Gremlins and Other Worlds

I'm going to see Bastille in Manchester tonight!!!
(I'm very excited!)

- Did everybody see my boyf on the cover of Empire this week?! This is seriously one of the best covers that magazine has ever had and it's all for my most anticipated film of the summer.
- Speaking of the giant-radioactive beastie, he got an incredible new trailer. The voice-over dialogue from Bryan Cranston is just incredible and is making me so so so excited for this to come out. Plus, we get a good ol' look at his mug at the end of the trailer and he's looking awesome! May cannot come soon enough.
- The trailer has also managed to become the subject of my absolute favourite cross-over photo set on Tumblr right now. This shit is hilarious and brilliant.
- I'm now on season 4 of Breaking Bad, I'm absolutely hooked and getting anxious that there's not actually much left before I've finished it for good.
- I've finally watched every film up for Best Picture on Sunday. It's taken me far too long to get around to it, and I'm worried I won't have chance to get them all reviewed before I start forgetting everything I want to say about each of them, but I've at least seen them all.
- Lupita absolutely killed me in 12 Years A Slave. If JLaw wins over her for Supporting Actress I'm going to rage.

List #27 | Films That Make Me Cry

The next list to make it into my Listography series is a collection of the films that have managed to break me down and make me cry. As I've gotten older I've found that the number of films that bring me to tears seems to have lessened considerably so the list of films that have made me actually cry isn't a very long one.

For now, here are the biggest offenders.

Wild Ones and Pink Ladies

- Guardians of the Galaxy looks alright. I enjoyed the focus on Chris Pratt, he definitely looks like he'll carry the film easily and make sure the comedy is done well. Plus there's this.
- The raccoon doesn't look as ridiculous as I thought either, but I haven't watched any of the features on the characters yet so I can't comment on whether Bradley Cooper's vocal contribution sells it or not.
- Godzilla got a new poster. It's not as good as the others but they set a pretty high standard from the get go with the marketing. I'm too excited for this film.
- Speaking of excitement, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been getting trailers and pictures and posters released by the boat-load. I still think it looks fantastic, and I hope that I'm proven right.
- I love love love the news about casting for Josh Trank's reboot of Fantastic 4. Some serious talent fleshing out this film and I'm excited to see how it all plays out.
- I also love that fans are still hating on the cast. They clearly don't give a crap about how talented actors are, they just have to look identical to their comic counterparts, and that has been really frustrating me lately.
- I finally got around to seeing The Wolf of Wall Street, and was blown away. Expect a review sometime next week while I try and work my way through the last few nominees I still haven't seen.

Oldboy

I was never a part of the huge cult following that surrounded the original Oldboy, in fact I only got around to watching the film for the first time last year. I thoroughly enjoyed it and could definitely see why so many held it in such high esteem, I had just come to the film a bit too late to join their ranks. I'm starting my review of last years remake by telling you this because I have a feeling that my position in relation to the original probably had a considerable impact on my response to Spike Lee's version.

List #12 | Most Romantic Moments in Film

Firstly, I'd just like to say that I do not condone Valentine's Day in the slightest. I don't see the point in this holiday and rarely even acknowledge it.

That said, I'm not above using it for my own benefit, and so have decided to use it to address the 12th list from my Listography series, asking for the most romantic film scenes. While I don't enjoy today's commercial blah-fest I do enjoy soppy romances every now and then, so here are 10 of my favourite romantic moments from some of my favourite romance films.

List #29 | Best Movie Villains

Putting together my Favourite Movie Posters list earlier this week made me want to do another straight away. So here's my first 10 choices for the 29th list from the Film Listography book, looking at the best movie villains.

Breathe In

Last year I was introduced to Like Crazy, a Sundance darling from 2011 that portrayed the trials of a long distance relationship between a British girl and American Boy and won me over with it's powerful emotional core. The sole reason for my interest in that film was Felicity Jones, who had charmed me in schmalzy rom-com Chalet Girl. Today I watched another film solely because of Ms. Jones, one which I was surprised to later discover was the follow up film from the director of Like Crazy.

List #72 | Best Movie Posters

I've finally got around to continuing my Listography series based on Lisa Nola's book. After the collection of 71 lists that Nola has put together are a series of blank lined pages for you to come up with your own lists. Today's post is my first based upon a list of my own creation.

I'm a sucker for great film artwork and find that I very often will decide whether or not to watch some films based on the poster art. With this in mind I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my absolute favourite film posters.
As with my other lists I have limited myself to just 10 entries for now, but it was so easy to reach this goal that I can see myself posting another 10 for this list very soon.

For now here are some of my favourites...
